Hey, I'm Day! Your friendly neighborhood sunshine.

I've lived in six countries outside of the U.S., started over more times than I can count, and built a creative business from my laptop somewhere between a Chiang Mai coffee shop and a Japanese hostel next to Mount Fuji.

Things I live by:

☀︎ slow travel and the places that become part of you

☀︎ building real connections across cultures and borders

☀︎ proving the world isn't as scary as it seems

Daycia, also known as Day, is a content creator, travel photographer, and digital nomad who has lived across six countries since 2012, including Korea, Thailand, Japan, and Guatemala. She creates content focused on life abroad, intentional slow travel, and genuine human connection - showing that the world isn't as scary as it seems and that building a life abroad is more possible than most people think.

As a creator and entrepreneur, Daycia has collaborated with brands including iTalki, Skillshare, and SafetyWing, bringing an honest, human-first perspective to travel and life abroad. She loves learning languages and speaks Japanese and Korean, volunteers in local communities wherever she lands, and is working toward her long-term vision for CommuniTea, a slow-living community space rooted in tea, culture, and genuine connection. Currently based in Chiang Mai, Thailand, she hosts workshops and events on content creation, community building, and life abroad.

I believe in..

The World Is Beautiful

The more of the world you actually step into, the less scary it becomes, and the more you realize that people everywhere want the same things: connection, belonging, and a life that feels worth living.

Connection Is the Point

A conversation with a stranger that runs two hours longer than expected, or volunteering with the locals to help children in need, it’s these moments that do more for the human soul than any itinerary could.

Discomfort Is Data

Hard things are inevitable, and starting over is uncomfortable every single time. But discomfort isn't a sign you're doing something wrong, but a sign you're doing something new. What you attach to that feeling determines whether it leads to stagnation or growth.

A Good Life Is Built Slowly

A good life is made of community, continuous learning, love, and the kind of fun that comes from actually being present.

How did I get here?

Growing up, I spent a lot of time at my local library in Cincinnati. That's where I discovered books on travel and where Japan became a dream. I'd spend hours reading about the culture, the people, the language, and the overall way of life. It felt far away as an eight-year-old and completely possible at the same time.

In 2012, at the age of 20, during university, that dream came true. I studied abroad in Japan and came home with something more valuable than the experience itself: proof that I could do whatever I set my mind to. I also came home deeply curious. I had met other international students from all over the world and couldn't stop thinking about their languages, their histories, the way they moved through life so differently from me.

That curiosity didn't go away. It grew. I started traveling more intentionally, taking trips to Canada, a summer volunteering in Guatemala with students in need, and a growing collection of connections with people who saw the world differently than I did. I was sharing content on life abroad and human connection before I even had a name for what I was doing.

In 2017 I made it official.

I sold everything, bought a one-way ticket to Asia, and didn't look back. Since then, I've lived in Thailand, taught English in Korea, and spent more time in Japan than I can count. Six countries, with my biggest belief: the more of the world I step into, the more convinced I am that people everywhere want the same things: connection, belonging, and that unique and individual cultures are to be celebrated.

Now I build a business around that belief by creating content on life abroad, helping others make the move themselves, and building slowly toward something bigger. Because the world is beautiful, and it deserves to be experienced.
